Sandwich on a Stick

Sandwich on a Stick-a fun way to eat sandwiches and perfect for school lunches! Kids and adults will love these creative Havarti and Gouda-filled sandwiches!
When I was in school, I almost always brought my lunch from home. The school cafeteria food was kind of scary. The mystery meatloaf was definitely a mystery and I never understood what a turkey horseshoe was. Plus, I liked picking out a special lunchbox every year. Well, there was that one year when my dad bought me a Ghostbusters lunch box and I cried for days because I thought the world was ending. How was I supposed to show up to school with a Ghostbusters lunchbox? I wanted a Lisa Frank lunchbox. Parents…sigh:)
Anyways, I loved bringing my lunch because I knew I would always have something good to eat. My dad didn't have good taste in lunchboxes, but I could always count on him for a delicious lunch:)
If you are looking for lunchbox ideas, today is your lucky day! I am sharing a few fun sandwich ideas for back to school! I took a few of our favorite sandwiches and put them on a stick! Yep, Sandwich on a Stick, it's a fun way to get your kids to eat their lunch!
Instead of making traditional sandwiches, I took all of the ingredients and put them on a stick! The sandwiches are easy to assemble and the kids can even help! You can make them the night before because the sandwiches won't get soggy!
I made sure all of the sandwiches included Arla Dofino cheese because cheese makes everybody happy:) I used three of our favorites: Gouda, Creamy Havarti, and Havarti with Dill–all of which are made from milk with no added hormones and without artificial flavors or preservatives. I cut some of the cheese into shapes with little cookie cutters because Caleb tends to eat better when things are in fun shapes. Plus, they are super cute and everyone wants a super cute lunch at school.
Here are the details for the sandwiches. They are all super simple to make!
Club Sandwich on a Stick: Skewer white bread cubes, deli turkey, bacon, Arla Dofino Havarti cheese cubes, grape tomatoes, and lettuce onto a stick. Serve mustard or mayonnaise on the side for dipping.
PB and J on a Stick: Make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and cut it into shapes with a small cookie cutter. Skewer raspberries, grapes, and Arla Dofino Havarti cheese stars in between the mini sandwiches. Note-you may want to use sunflower or almond butter due to allergies. Most schools have “no peanut” rules.
Turkey and Salami on a Stick: This is Caleb's favorite! I use whole wheat bread cubes, deli turkey, salami, Arla Dofino Gouda cheese shapes, and grape tomatoes. Serve mustard or mayonnaise on the side for dipping.
Veggie Sandwich on a Stick: I use whole wheat pita bread triangles, cucumber slices, grape tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, and Arla Dofino Dill Havarti. I like to serve hummus on the side for dipping.
If the sandwiches are too big to fit into a lunchbox, you can cut them. The mini sandwiches on sticks are adorable! Plus, you can mix and match! Let your kids pick their favorite!
And to make your kids' lunch even more special, you can include a fun lunch note! Download and print these free lunchbox notes! They are sure to brighten their day!
If you get tired of making the same old school lunch, make a Sandwich on a Stick! Make one or make them all! And if you don't have a lunch to pack for school or work, you can still make these fun sandwich sticks at home! They are great for parties, play dates, or snack time! Enjoy!
